Know when your child is well enough to go to school and when they should stay home because of their symptoms. Some reasons to have your child stay home include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and respiratory symptoms that are getting worse or not improving. Guidance on staying home when sick can also help you decide whether your child needs to stay home.
If you feel sick, stay home and away from others until 24 hours after both of these things have happened:
You are fever-free (without fever-reducing medications),
and
Your symptoms are getting better.
Then layer on added prevention strategies (such as masks, distancing, and tests) for the next 5 days. Talk to your doctor right away about medications that can help you recover faster, especially if you are in a high-risk group.

While the CDC no longer recommends quarantine (staying home) after an exposure to someone with COVID-19, it is still recommended that people take precautions, such as wearing masks, physical distancing, and/or testing when around other people indoors, regardless of vaccination status or if they have had a previous infection.
