On Thursday, November 14th from 11:00 - 7:00, the middle school will be hosting Student Led Conferences. During a student led conference, students facilitate discussion with their parent(s) or guardian(s) in relation to their progress. The conference begins at a station in the hallway adjacent to the advisor's classroom. While at this station, students share their self selected work samples, discuss areas of strength, areas needing improvement, and set goals. The student then takes their parent(s) or guardian(s) to the classroom to meet their teacher.
Student led conferences, as opposed to traditional parent/teacher conferences have been proven to produce the following benefits:
Student empowerment and accountability - students are given a voice in the process; they're also asked to reflect on progress and learn to hold themselves accountable for their efforts
Development of communication skills
Celebration of the learning process
Links to schedule appointments for conferences will be shared to the middle school website and be open November 4th - November 14th. Middle school secretaries will also take calls to schedule appointments.
We hope to see all of our students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) on Thursday, November 14th!
